Attention Ladies: “Women Uniquely Created by God” is the theme of the 2010 Women & Girls Retreat, September 10-12, at Camp Mennoscah, Murdock, KS, featuring Retreat Speaker Florence Schloneger. This retreat is for all women grades 3 through age 103. For more information contact Eileen at swp@buhlerks.net. Registration forms are on the bulletin board (north wall) in the hall.
Ellen Awe of Newton will give the next Sunday-Afternoon-at-the-Museum program, Sunday, Aug. 1 at 3:30 p.m. at Kauffman Museum, about her “culinary journey” with the Mennonite Community Cookbook, inspired by the memoir and movie Julie and Julia. The program is free and open to the public and is related to the exhibit of artwork by Kristin Diener currently on display at Kauffman Museum, “Beloved,” in which many pieces refer to the artist’s Amish and Mennonite heritage. For more information, call 316-283-1612 or e-mail rpannabe@bethelks.edu.
Camp Mennoscah—Iron? Electric knife? Measuring spoons and cups? Paring knives? Thick pot holders? These are all items that have broken, disappeared, or expired this summer. If you would be interested in donating any of the items on this impromptu Wish List, please contact Camp Mennoscah at campmno@mennowdc.org or 620-297-3290.
Camp Mennoscah needs YOU! We would like to tap into the passions and skills of people who wish to see Camp Mennoscah thrive. We are in need of folks who would be willing to share their talents to accomplish the following projects: the new swimming pool and the septic system update. These projects require special gifts – if you are willing to share your skills, please contact Valerie Klaassen, Retreat Commission chair at jvklaassen@powwwer.net
The 15th annual Day on the Farm sponsored by Mennonite Agri-Urban will be held Saturday, August 21 at the farm of Carol Duerksen and Maynard Knepp, 3 miles north, 4 miles east, and 3/4 mile north of Goessel, Kansas. This is a great family event that helps children from towns and cities connect with the rural upbringing of many of their parents/grandparents. Events which include horseback rides, pony cart rides, goat milking, pig catching and interaction with farm animals run continuously from 10 am to 3 pm. A meal will be served beginning at 11:30. The event is free however contributions to Agri-Urban are welcomed. Agri-Urban benefits Western District Conference, Mennonite Church USA and Bethel College.

The Junior Sunday School Classes will be collecting items for the MCC School kits and would like to invite the congregation to help donate items for the school kits. This is a good time to buy supplies for MCC school kits when school supplies will be on sale.
The requested list of items is (new items only):
School kits: Place contents in a fabric double drawstring bag, 28 cm x 40.6 cm / 11" x 16".
• 4 spiral notebooks or notebooks with perforations (about 21.5cm x 27 cm / 8.5" x 10.5" and 70-80 sheets each)
• 4 unsharpened #2 pencils
• 1 ruler (flexible plastic; indicating both 30 cm and 12")
• 1 box of colored pencils (12 exactly, please; do not send crayons; they can melt!)
• 1 large pencil eraser
You may sew the bag yourself, request bags from an MCC collection center, or donate contents that MCC will place in a bag. Donated items and school kit bags may be dropped off at Church or taken to MCC, North Newton.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
and lean not on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him
and He shall direct your paths.”
